KROL DAMREI ou KROL ROMEAS
Approximately 500 m before arriving at the Western entry of Preah Khan, at the end of a small road with 50 meters of the road.

This curious monument, ignored by all, would however gain with being examined more closely and would learn to us a little more on the life and the Khmer practices.
Discovered only in 1924, it was initially described like a park for elephants, and, for this reason, interests us much.
It is a kind of circus elliptic, of approximately 70m in its greater dimension, which could have been used well as model to the contemporary architect who drew the parks for elephants used today at Phnom Bakheng and in the Cultural Village , but unfortunately out of the public's eyes.
We can imagine a central court in which the elephants were showered and washed, more especially as there is a discharging trough for waste water.
Every two meters, on the first enclosure, are the site of what was to be used to attach the elephants. It is easy to imagine the residences of the mahouts in a circular building located above the unit.

Ce curieux monument, ignoré de tous, gagnerait pourtant à être examiné de plus près et nous apprendrait un peu plus sur la vie et les habitudes khmères.
Découvert seulement en 1924, il fut d'abord décrit comme un parc à éléphants, et, à ce titre, nous intéresse beaucoup.
C'est une sorte de cirque elliptique, d'environ 70m dans sa plus grande dimension, qui pourrait bien avoir servi de modèle à l'architecte contemporain qui dessina les parcs à éléphants utilisés aujourd'hui à Phnom Bakheng et au Cultural Village, mais malheureusement à l'abri des regards du public.
On peut donc imaginer une cour centrale dans laquelle les éléphants étaient douchés et lavés, d'autant plus qu'il existe un couloir d'écoulement pour les eaux usées.
Tous les deux mètres, sur la première enceinte, se trouvent les emplacement de ce qui devait servir à attacher les éléphants. Il est facile d'imaginer les logements des mahouts dans un bâtiment circulaire situé au-dessus de l'ensemble.
